At Bierton, we use The Write Stuff as our method to teach writing. This approach gives a clear structure to our writing lessons by dividing each lesson into 3 writing chunks each of which has a clear focus. Each sentence will have a skill as a focus that is taken from the writing rainbow. The writing rainbow contains the skills for writing, with them broken down into three areas. The fantastics, boombastics and the grammaristics.  The approach helps the children to practise the different skills within the lesson. At the end of the unit the children plan their own piece or writing based on the text and using a selection of the skills they have practised in the unit.
